On 22 June, ICE Northern Ireland's Health and Safety group held "Guilty or Not Guilty? Judgment Day," an all-day conference covering health and safety litigation. More than 150 industry professionals, including ICE Director General Nick Baveystock, attended the event in Belfast.

The morning sessions included in-depth presentations covering topics from the Health and Safety Executive NI's approach to investigations, to overviews of law cases and legal differences when working in multiple jurisdictions. The afternoon featured the mock trial, a recreation of a real court case that resulted in an audience verdict of 'Guilty.'

"The importance of adherence to Health and Safety in our industry cannot be overstated, so we were delighted to see such an enthusiastic response to the conference," said Richard Kirk, Regional Director of ICE NI. "The mock trial was particularly popular, as it provided a uniquely realistic look at litigation."

"We intend to offer more of these interactive, informative events over the next year in order to raise standards and encourage professionalism among our members."
