The student chapter was officially inaugurated by Andrew Mountain CEng FICE MiStructE along with ICE UAE Representatives Melanie Hill, Lakshmi Modali and the RAK Free zone Academy Director Taner Topcu.
The event was attended by students, faculty, programme leaders of various departments and the Director of Administration -Raj Nambiar. The event started with a welcome note from the Student Chapter President Emmanuel Igwebuike who welcomed the invited. He further introduced the seven committee members of the ICE student chapter.
After delivering a brief & inspiring speech, Andrew Mountain has symbolically unveiled a certificate in the presence of the student chapter committee members and announced that the first ICE student chapter in the Middle East has been officially launched.
ICE Middle East Business Development Manager Melanie Hill gave an informative presentation outlining the benefits of joining as student members in ICE. This was followed by an interactive technical presentation from Andrew Mountain which was noted by the student participation.
Programme Leader for Civil Engineering Lekshmi Rajesh and faculty advisor of the chapter said "Active student participation is the key to the success of student chapter and its future. The students will gain rich exposure to industry and know the diverse career prospects of a Civil Engineer."
Kelvin John, Academic Co-ordinator for the School of Engineering & Computing at the Academic Centre, said: 'The Academic Centre is proud to launch the first ICE student chapter in the UAE and in the middle east and I whole heartedly welcome the innovative approach by the programme team in setting up this Student Chapter which looks into wider prospect of our students by being part of development of Ras Al Khaimah".
The program was concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to ICE UAE representatives Andrew Mountain, Melanie Hill and Lakshmi Modali which was followed by vote of thanks from Vice president of the student chapter Farwa Ashraf.
