The role will give Joanna the opportunity to work closely with Gareth Scott, the ICE North West Chairman and the regional committee, developing her skills and working alongside engineers at all levels, including ICE President Sir John Armitt.
ICE North West Chairman, Gareth Scott said, "I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the applications and it was encouraging to see so many skills on offer.
"However it was Joanna's infectious enthusiasm that really shone through. She eats, sleeps and breathes civil engineering and is a great advocate for the profession. I'm very much looking forward to working with her and seeing the contribution she makes."
The apprenticeship is designed to:
- Help early career development.
- Provide the opportunity to meet and engage with senior engineering professionals.
- Give an invaluable insight into the industry and profession.
- Offer one-to-one mentoring.
Joanna said she's delighted to be appointed. She is looking forward to the opportunities ahead, especially in terms of inspiring young people to think about a future in such an exciting and rewarding industry.
