Earlier this month, the Irish Academy of Engineering presented Past Chairman Dr Phil Donald with the John de Courcy Testimonial in Dublin. The award was “in recognition of a lifelong and outstanding contribution to engineering heritage in Ireland.”

Dr Ron Cox of Trinity College, Dublin, who co-edited Ireland’s Civil Engineering Heritage with Phil, presented him with the Testimonial scroll.

The 2013 book is an important contribution to the industrial history of Ireland and describes achievements of famous engineers. It also includes a gazetteer of many surviving historical civil engineering works.

“We are delighted that Phil’s achievements and contributions to the field have been recognised,” said Richard Kirk, Regional Director for ICE NI. “We echo the Testimonial and thank Phil for his enthusiasm for and commitment to civil engineering.”
