The campaign makes links between the work taking place on civil engineering projects and the direct benefits that it will bring to homes and communities.
More projects are joining every month and sharing photos of their banner-raising events on social media using the hashtag #thisiscivilengineering.
This hashtag has already been used hundreds of times on both Twitter and Instagram, and continues to celebrate the vital role civil engineering plays in improving quality of life, creating jobs and driving economic growth.
This year 50 employer partners have taken part in the campaign, including Tony Lewis, Costain Project Manager of the M54 junction 3 to 4 improvement scheme. Tony said ‘Costain has a long and established relationship with ICE and we are pleased to be supporting this campaign. Civil Engineers deliver vital infrastructure for the country and we hope that on the M54 scheme we can play our part in highlighting to the public the important role they play.’
ICE is looking for more visually impressive and socially significant projects right across the country to take part and help raise awareness of civil engineering.
As winter is fast approaching, now is a great time to showcase the importance of civil engineering and its role to society. Whether your project contributes to keeping the community warm during the festive season, protects homes and buildings from flooding, or improves roads, railways and airports to help people get home for Christmas, then we’d love to hear from you.
