Understanding the Professional Engineers Act

In Queensland, engineers are required by legislation to be registered with the Board to carry out professional engineering services unless they are working under the direct supervision of a registered professional engineer who is responsible for the services.

Registration helps maintain professional standards, uphold public confidence in the standard of services of engineers, and protect the public.

On Wednesday 24 February 2016, Kylie Mercer the Registrar of the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland, gave a presentation on the obligations of engineers under the Professional Engineers Act, what is a professional engineering service, what constitutes direct supervision, the relationship between registered engineers and unregistered engineers, the benefits of having registration, and the process to become registered.

Kylie Mercer is the Registrar of the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland, the regulatory authority responsible for administering the Professional Engineers Act and registering engineers in Queensland.
