Benjamín Colucci Ríos
Dr. Benjamín Colucci is the Director of the Transportation Technology Transfer Center and professor in the Civil Engineering and Surveying Department of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, and UPRM SaferSIM Researcher. He has been involved in professional development for over 30 years. He has presented the findings of several research projects in technical conferences in the United States, Central and South America, Cuba, Spain, Portugal, Singapore, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Roma among others, and in technical committees of several international professional organizations of which he is a member. He has worked on research projects related to pavement evaluation, nondestructive testing, asphalt mixtures, highway safety, speed studies, motorcycle crashes and Tren Urbano. He has received awards for his scientific contribution, achievement and productivity in the civil engineering and transportation of institutions such as Chi Epsilon, Sigma Xi, UPRM, CIAPR, Purdue University and UPR. He has been a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico (CIAPR) and the Transportation Research Board (TRB). He is currently the Abertis Transportation Chairperson of Puerto Rico and the Vice President of UPADI-Caribbean Region.
