Nick Hardiman

Nick is National Senior Coastal Adviser at the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCRM) Directorate in England, and is chartered with the Institute of Water and Environmental Management with 18 years’ experience in this field.

Over the last ten years at the Environment Agency, he has helped Government develop national policy on coastal development planning and adaptation, driven the development of a national coastal erosion risk map for England, and led for the Environment Agency on the National Network of Regional Coastal Monitoring Programmes. He works closely with the coastal engineering community nationally and internationally on a range of research and development, and has national oversight of the Environment Agency’s legal compliance with natural environment legislation in relation to FCRM.

Nick is currently managing a review of the comprehensive suite of Shoreline Management Plans for England and is Chair of the Institution of Civil Engineers Maritime Expert Panel.
