Quirijn is principal advisor on Coastal Flood Risk Management at Rijkswaterstaat. Rijkswaterstaat is the executive agency of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water management in the Netherlands. Quirijn also works part-time at Delft University of Technology, where the teaches coastal management and does research. Quirijn is a member of the north sea coastal managers group how meet annually to discuss coastal management issues and opportunities. Multiple EU R&D projects have been initiated and co-funded through this group. He is also coordinating Rijkswaterstaats efforts to write an international guideline for the use of Natural and Nature Based features together with international partners. This project is led by USACE. other partners are the E.A. (UK) and international dredging companies.
