Sam Watkin is Jacobs Coastal Engineering Technical Director for ANZ and Asia and currently leads the Jacobs Ports and Maritime team in Brisbane, Australia. Sam holds a BEng in Civil engineering from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc in Coastal Engineering from the University of Plymouth.
Sam has consulted on a range of interesting international projects including the construction of the world’s largest caisson breakwater in Ensenada, Mexico and some of World’s largest artificial Island developments in the Middle East. Prior to working for Jacobs in Brisbane, Sam was a coastal engineering consultant to the World Bank and was based in Tarawa, Kiribati advising the government on coastal engineering issues. Sam recently led the delivery of the Temaiku Land and Urban Development project as design manager and this is the topic upon which he has based his paper for this conference.
