Tim leads Arup’s Infrastructure design group in London, comprising all the design skills for major economic infrastructure.
His curiosity has led him into long term strategic planning of major infrastructure schemes, and considerations of how infrastructure can be provided at least carbon cost in the future. He led the Institution of Civil Engineers trajectory for low carbon infrastructure. He was a steering group member for the UK Government’s Infrastructure Carbon Review and is was the Arup director responsible for the world’s first standard for the reduction of whole-life carbon in infrastructure PAS 2080.
He has a zeal for ensuring that nations make the best long-term bets for a sustainable and prosperous future, which led him into assessing where use of heat networks can be most auspicious.
He is a member of the National Infrastructure Commission’s expert advisory panel and the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Policy Committee.
