Prior to joining the Environment Agency in 2009, Uwe spent seven years as a Research Fellow at Sussex University followed by a two-year stint at a coastal engineering consultancy. Over the last 19 years he has accumulated a wide range of field and desk based research and management experience involving cliffs, shore platforms, mixed beaches and their interaction with engineering structures with particular emphasis on Southeast England. He supports EA area and national teams as well as Local Authorities and other Statutory Bodies with coastal technical expertise on strategies, schemes and operations as well as national R&D projects. Over the years he has given presentations to a wide range of audiences and taught at intervals at the University of Sussex. Uwe has written and contributed to over 40 papers ranging from pure coastal science to coastal engineering and management related topics.
