Call for Papers for ICE's Management, Procurement and Law Journal

ICE's Management, Procurement and Law journal has issued a Call for Papers for an upcoming issue focusing on Europe.

Water is the key to our existence and until recently most of Europe has been well provided and so water has been a low priority politically. This has changed recently with expanding populations and higher expectations compounded by climate change. It was thus with pleasure and great interest that we welcomed Chris Binnie to guide us through the problems and possible solutions relating to water resources in Europe.

Visit to Vianden pump storage scheme

A group of 15 ICE members and others, largely comprising existing or ex-European Investment Bank staff, visited the development of new capacity at the Vianden pump storage scheme in northern Luxembourg on Friday 19th October 2012.

Luxembourg Lecture: 'The Environmental Assessment of Buildings through BREEAM'

The ICE Luxembourg Association held a meeting on 24th November 2011 at which Jean-Louis Hubermont, principal of the specialist consulting firm Building for the Future, presented the current state of environmental assessment of buildings in Europe with particular reference to the Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).

The Luxembourg Local Association visited the south portal area of the Stafelter tunnels on 19th November 2010. This is the third visit by the Association to the Autoroute du Nord, which has been under construction for some 10 years.

Electrical Pumped Storage System at Vianden, Luxembourg

Vianden is a picturesque town nestling in the Our valley and overlooked by a magnificent medieval chateau. Less well know is that hidden in the mountain behind the chateau is one of the largest pump storage systems in Europe. Plans are afoot to enlarge the system and this was the catalyst for the ICE Luxembourg Local Association on Friday 11th June 2010.
