We promote all grades of membership and support applicants through the process.

We promote an increase in member participation, both in their attendance at meetings and as volunteers active within ICE.

We organise regular events for our members including evening meetings and annual conference.

We promote and share ICE live events, recorded lectures or papers and reports, both online and in print for our members to access.

We communicate regularly with our members about events, the civil engineering profession, the Institution and other items of interest.

We aim to establish and maintain links with relevant groups and other institutions to strengthen the position of the ICE in the region and influence local decision making.

We will maintain links with local press and media with the aim of increasing media coverage for ICE locally

We promote the civil engineering profession to schools, colleges, universities and the wider community.

National Women in Engineering Day - 23 June

Organised by the WES (Women's Engineering Society) this is a day dedicated to raising the profile and celebrating the achievements of women in engineering and to showcasing the great engineering careers that are available for girls.

We are calling on our members to organise their own events in support of the day, and link them together for maximum impact. For example:

  • Organise visits for local school children and parents, and encourage girls to attend.
  • Launch a Women's Network or arrange a social event for your women engineers.Review your Diversity and Inclusion policies.
  • Register your women engineers to speak at schools or register as STEM Ambassadors.

Follow East of England:

State of the Nation Infrastructure

In State of the Nation: Infrastructure, ICE recommends:
Our approach to delivering and maintaining infrastructure requires attention – progress made to date should be built upon to ensure that the UK possesses world class infrastructure; Energy, flood management and local transport are of particular concern; Water, waste and strategic transport require “future proofing” The report also addresses cross-cutting issues such as decarbonisation, infrastructure design standards, availability of infrastructure services and impacts of changing weather patterns and population growth.

State of the Nation: Transport

Immediate action to improve road conditions, planning and funding; Clear national transport strategies for all parts of the UK; Extended devolution of fully-integrated transport powers, particularly to major city-regions.
These priorities are underpinned by a comprehensive suite of complementary recommendations.
