The Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES) has been established to promote excellence in security engineering by providing a benchmark of professional quality against which its members have been independently assessed.
Application is open to all Security Specialists and those involved in the field of Security Engineering.

What is Security Engineering?
Security engineering is defined as “the protection of the health of the population, the built environment and infrastructure against terrorism, sabotage and crime by the application of engineering and scientific principles”.
RSES is sponsored by the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) and is administered and operated by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Am I eligible?
Applications are open to engineers, applied scientists, health professionals and specialists who apply their knowledge to securing the built environment and infrastructure.
To be eligible to apply to the Register you must:

be professionally qualified with an Engineering Council licensed professional institution, e.g., Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), at EngTech, IEng or CEng level,
or
-
if you are not professionally qualified you will be expected to demonstrate the generic competences for the relevant grade, A, B or C, as shown in Annex B, ICE 3009(2) and possess the relevant academic base as shown in Annex F, ICE 3009(2).

How to apply
Potential applicants should first consult ICE 3009(2) Register of Security Engineers and Specialists which details the criteria and process in making an application.
Individuals who wish to express an interest in making an application should complete an expression of interest form ICE 3920.
All applications are to be sponsored by a current RSES applicant. Should you need assistance the Registers Coordinator at ICE can be contacted for further advice.
Once an expression of interest has been received individuals will be invited by ICE, on behalf of CPNI, to make a full application. A more detailed application will then be required and the applicant will be invited to demonstrate their competence via a peer review interview.

- A non-refundable application fee is required
- There will be an annual subscription for those on the Register
