State of the Nation: Water
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), calls for decisive and prompt action to tackle the UK’s water security, which ICE warn will continue to worsen if not addressed urgently.
In its State of the Nation: Water report ICE says the recent droughts have been a ‘wake up call’ for the UK but the urgency and severity of the UK’s water issues is still not properly understood. ICE rates the UK’s current water security as level 4 on a 1-10 scale.

This joint Oxfam, WaterAid and ICE report reveals that the potential of local water management has been undervalued, particularly in low income countries. Aimed at water practitioners and policy makers it recommends that local communities are involved in building and maintaining water supply hardware and infrastructure, and in monitoring how much water is available and how to allocate it.
Call for Papers: Water demand management
Water Management is planning a themed issue for 2013 on water demand management. This special issue will explore the short-term viability and long-term effectiveness of a range of demand management options, covering both innovative approaches to driving up water use efficiency as well as evidence of demand management tool effectiveness.
