Overview

This BGA Early Careers Group Event is a unique opportunity to hear about the application of instrumentation, engineering judgement and close collaboration between clients, contractors and designers on award winning projects carried out over two decades. Alan Powderham FREng (Consultant, Mott MacDonald) will cover the Heathrow Express recovery works, the Boston Central Artery tunnel jacking and the Heathrow Airside Road Tunnel.

The lecture was first delivered in 2009 as the Vienna Terzaghi Lecture and has been repeated at lectures in Asia. This is the first time the lecture has been presented in the UK and will offer an enjoyable and comprehensive treatise of the potential of the method.
