KS3 students encouraged to find creative solutions to society's biggest challenges.
ICE London's annual #ICanEngineer competition has opened for entries, and the theme for 2021 is rail innovation.
Now in its fifth year, the contest – which is open to 12-15 year-olds across London – encourages students to become an ‘Engineering Superhero’ by taking real-life problems and finding creative solutions.

This year's theme
This year, entrants will be asked to design a brand new train station within London.
The judges will award marks based on: innovation and technology, materials and structures, environmental impact, social impact, and the links to surrounding infrastructure.
When's the deadline for entries?
Entries will be accepted from now until Monday 24 January 2022.
The awards ceremony will be held in London in the new year, at which all successfully shortlisted teams will be invited to present their ideas and talk to civil engineers about careers.
Jonathan Baggs, ICE London director, said: "The #ICanEngineer competition, now in its fifth year, promotes engineering in schools and raises the profile of the different types of engineering careers.
"Students have the opportunity to develop an engineering mindset, creating solutions for big societal issues such as climate change. Previous entries from students across London have been outstanding and we look forward to more bright ideas this year."
The #ICanEngineer competition is part of the Future Engineers Scheme run by the ICE London Graduate and Students Committee. The competition is supported by Ramboll, WSP and Mott MacDonald.
