Implementing Decide and Provide in Oxfordshire: initial experiences and challenges

Event organised by The Transport Planning Society

07 March 2024
19:00 - 20:30 GMT

This event has now ended

Following the adoption of Oxford County Council (OCC)’s ‘Implementing Decide & Provide’ document in September 2022, this lecture will explore how the document was developed and its role as part of other planning processes. It will also consider the legislation and policy context including how it relates to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

Some initial experiences of the document’s implementation in practice will be reflected upon, acknowledging some of the challenges encountered in terms of the methodology and the potential outcomes.

Finally, other recent examples of how transport assessment guidance is evolving will be looked at and some suggestions as to how legislation and policy might better support more forward-thinking transport planning will be discussed.
