Join us for an informative presentation exploring the fundamentals of Direct Pipe® trenchless technology and its increasing use across the UK infrastructure sector.
This session will provide an introduction to the principles behind Direct Pipe®, outlining its construction methodology and the key engineering considerations that underpin successful delivery. The presentation will highlight how the technique is being applied to complex trenchless crossings and why it is gaining traction within the industry.
The talk will also cover important design and construction interfaces, including ground conditions, shaft requirements, and critical factors influencing project feasibility and performance. Concluding with practical insights from UK applications, the session will offer valuable guidance for engineers and practitioners involved in trenchless works.
Following the event, a networking session with food and drinks will be held at ICE Kendal's bar, sponsored by Herrenknecht UK.

Richard Dexter
Richard Dexter is the managing director of Herrenknecht International Ltd in the UK and Ireland.
He has extensive experience in trenchless technology, mechanised tunnelling, shaft sinking, and underground construction. In his role, he leads all quotation, negotiation, and commercial activities, as well as technical and site support for Herrenknecht projects across the UK and Ireland.
He is also responsible for the overall safety, quality, commercial performance, and support functions of the UK subsidiary of the global tunnelling equipment manufacturer, Herrenknecht.
