Overview

This breakfast talk and interactive discussion is for Fellows and aspiring Fellows of the ICE, and breakfast will be provided.

Civil engineers have a pivotal role in the successful delivery of major projects. As part of David Porter’s thematic focus on civil engineering leadership in complex environments, the ICE London Regional Committee is delighted to welcome professor Martina Huemann, professor in project leadership and society at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, University College London, to a special Fellows Breakfast session.

Martina will be talking about motivations for project professionals to work in the complex environments and what does this mean for major projects?  Martina will introduce the leadership spaces model, discussing autonomy, social, learning and purpose. Martina will share real world examples of how this model is applied in practice and how it can empower civil engineers to take a more proactive and influential leadership role in major projects.
