Overview

This fourth online workshop aims to help graduate members with tips and examples about Communication Tasks, such as the different types of scenario themes and the different types of response formats.

This particular session is led by an experienced engineer who has gone through the IEng or CEng process and an engineer who is currently going through it. The goal of these sessions is to share best practices among engineers in a similar position.

Our final planned session in this series is happening in April – themed Mock Review session. To stay informed about registration for these events, we recommend monitoring the ICE events page at Events | Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Session 5: Tuesday 05 May - Professional Review tips
Session 6: Wednesday 27 May - Mock Review session

We hope to see you at the event. If you have any questions, please email us. This is a series of events organised by the ICE London Regional Committee in collaboration with the ICE Early Career Network (ECNet) London committee.

(It's important to note that these workshops are not formally organised by the Institution of Civil Engineers' Membership Developer Officers and should not be treated as official guidance).

Arabel Vilas Serín

Arabel Vilas Serín is a Chartered Principal Geotechnical and Tunnel Engineer at Amentum. With a background in Mining Engineering, she developed a passion for underground works early in her studies and career, which led to completing a Master’s in Tunnelling and Underground Works with AETOS in Madrid followed by a Master’s in Soil Mechanics at Imperial College London — a combination that shaped her into a hybrid between geotechnical and tunnelling engineering. She has worked across mining, civil, geotechnical and tunnelling projects, delivering efficient and high-quality design solutions for complex ground engineering challenges. Arabel has contributed to major onshore, offshore, tunnelling and infrastructure projects in both design and site roles. Now, at Amentum, within the Defence and Asset Solutions department, she focuses on projects combining geotechnics, tunnelling, and nuclear infrastructure. Arabel is the former Chair of the British Tunnelling Society Young Members (BTSYM), and she is now a Trustee Member of the British Tunnelling Society Main Committee.
