Overview

Join us for an insightful overview of ICE membership, supported by real experiences from reviewers, mentors, employers, and inspiring engineers from Pakistan.

Dr Jenny Illingsworth, membership manager at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), will explain the routes to ICE membership, the benefits of becoming a member, and the positive impact it can have on your professional development and global career prospects. We will also hear from ICE Student Chapters currently active in Pakistan, as well as from individuals whose membership applications are in progress.

Following the presentation, a panel of current ICE members sharing their personal experiences. Engr Jawaid Malik, serving as a Reviewer, and Engr Arsalan Haider, an ICE Mentor, will discuss their roles and journeys.

Engr Amer Javed of NESPAK will provide the perspective of Supervising Engineers, while Engr Dr Tahir Masood, Managing Director of NESPAK, will offer insights from an employer’s viewpoint.

Finally, the session will introduce several inspiring role models. CEng MICE Dr Umair Farooq, EU Ing Tariq Umar, and CEng FICE Umar Qureshi will share their success stories and reflect on their professional pathways.

Jenny Illingsworth

Dr Jenny Illingsworth is the Membership Manager for the Mid England region, South East Asia, South Asia, and Africa at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). In this role, she oversees membership support, guides individuals through professional qualification processes, and manages membership applications. With a background in programme management and business development, she brings extensive experience to her position. She holds a PhD from Durham University and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

She is also the Head of Business and Operations for the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education, where she manages the Centre, communicates its opportunities and successes, oversees effective P&L operations, and supports the development of education programmes, research themes, product development, and innovation for the rail and associated industries.

Additionally, she supports communications and industry engagement with the UK Rail Research & Innovation Network—a 40+ partner strong collaboration between academia and industry.
