Overview

The ‘CEng Communication Task’ event will provide guidance on how to communicate well within a series of industry-specific themes.

This session will aim to focus on the theme of the future of civil engineering, this covers education and skills, careers and skills shortage and the productivity challenge.

Although this event is open to all ICE members, this event may be particularly useful to those who are preparing for their Professional Review at CEng level.

The format of the session will consist of:

  • Welcome and introductions
  • 10 minute introduction to the theme
  • 30 minute breakout group discussion
  • 15 minute group feedback

This event is hosted by ECNet committees from the Northern Ireland region using Microsoft Teams. The session will be hosted and moderated by regional committee members, where session content will be presented by guest speakers or ICE staff members at times.


The sessions within this event series shall not be recorded and we do not issue certificates for attendance.

Hector Martin

Hector Martin is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at Queen's University Belfast, with over 20 years experience in Construction Management. He serves as a Board Member of Radius Housing, where he contributes to the organisation's strategic oversight and its mission to develop high-quality housing and support communities across Northern Ireland.

Hector is also an Editorial Board Member of Nature Scientific Reports and volunteers as a member of Mutual Energy. He is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE), a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (MASCE), a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

An active researcher and academic, Hector has authored more than 65 peer-reviewed academic publications, reflecting his contributions to the fields of civil engineering, construction management, and project management.
