Overview

The CEDA AGM will take place at 17:00, followed by the lecture at 18:00.

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), described by the Climate Change Committee (CCC) as “a necessity, not an option” for reaching the UK’s net zero ambitions, is vital for cutting emissions from heavy industries like cement and steel sectors, where low-carbon alternatives simply don’t yet exist.

The UK is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation. With one of the largest CO₂ storage potentials in Europe, a thriving CCS sector could unlock major economic benefits — from high-value jobs in industrial heartlands to new opportunities for UK businesses throughout the CCS supply chain.

Join us to explore this evolving sector, understand how the UK is moving from ambition to delivery, and see how The Crown Estate is helping accelerate deployment — enabling growth, investment, and a more resilient, decarbonised future for the nation.

After the event, join us for a networking session with drinks at the ICE Kendal’s Bar.

Denise Moylan

Denise leads The Crown Estate’s work on carbon capture and storage (CCS) and hydrogen. As manager of the seabed and much of the coastline around England, Wales and Northern Ireland, The Crown Estate plays a pivotal role in enabling the UK’s low carbon future – granting leases for offshore pipeline transportation, seabed and subsurface rights to developers for CO2 storage.

In her role, Denise works closely with industry, government and stakeholders to unlock the full potential of CCS in supporting decarbonisation of industry, along with a secure, resilient and decarbonised energy system. She oversees a team that brings together technical, commercial and strategic expertise, exploring how The Crown Estate can help de-risk projects, accelerate deployment and shape a thriving CCS sector.
