Overview

Join the ICE Knowledge and Networking Committee to hear the story of the Lancaster Bomber VN-N (R5689), immortalised in the sculpture that now sits proudly on the hillside on the Lincolnshire Gateway.

This event will showcase the remarkable journey of the Bomber County Gateway Trust, tracing the development of this project from the earliest concept through to the creation of the final sculpture. Attendees will gain insight into the architectural vision, engineering innovation, and specialist fabrication techniques that brought this unique structure to life.

Exploring the distinctive design and engineering challenges involved in delivering a one‑of‑a‑kind installation, particularly those that fall outside conventional design standards. It will highlight how creative problem‑solving, collaboration, and technical expertise combined to overcome these obstacles and realise a landmark piece of public art.
