Trustees met in Belfast for the annual strategy day.
At its annual strategy day, trustees met in Belfast to discuss the recommendations of the board effectiveness review as well as the ICE’s 2025-2030 strategy with the ICE’s executive team.
Board effectiveness review
To kick start the day, the trustee board met to discuss the recommendations from a board effectiveness review that was carried out in the last quarter of 2024.
As trustees, we are ultimately responsible and accountable for the activities of the institution. It’s important for us to reflect on how we are working together to ensure the institution delivers its purpose.
This is the first review we have done in the five years since the current structure of the trustee board was established.
The review made several recommendations which we will take into consideration over the next few months.
Meeting the Infrastructure Minister
We were delighted to meet Northern Ireland’s Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins while in Belfast.
It was a good opportunity to speak to the newly appointed minister about the role infrastructure plays in the economy, society and the day to day lives of local citizens.
ICE five-year strategy
Creating a new five-year strategy for 2025-2030 offers a fantastic opportunity for the ICE to review the work it has done over the last few years and set a vision for the future.
With the insights from the council session in December fresh in our mind, the strategy session focused on how we can continue to build on the ICE’s success in recent years to create a new vision for the next five years.
The trustees will continue to work with the executive on the strategy with the aim of agreeing a final version in the autumn.
Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the strategy work so far.
It has been great to listen to the discussions taking place at council and within the principal committees.
