Commenting on the publication of the Liberal Democrats' general election manifesto, Nick Baveystock, Director General of the Institution of Civil Engineers, said:
"Infrastructure investment is critical to the long-term future of the economy. But that infrastructure has to support our quality of life: clean air, community and opportunity. Net-zero has to be at the heart of this.
"To have any chance of achieving this we need people to make difficult choices and only then will we build a comprehensive national infrastructure strategy; deliver the net-zero target; and improve productivity across the economy. This is what those in Government can drive."
