ICE mentoring - pairing mentors and mentees

ICE mentoring helps our members to find mentors.

ICE Mentoring platform

Our service is designed to match members of ICE who are looking for mentors with those who offer their mentoring, based on expertise and skills. We offer online resources, advice and guidance to help you make the most of the mentoring experience.

Joining as a mentee

Our service can help you to find a suitable mentor on the online platform, who could support and help you achieve specific goals. As a mentee you can specify the type of knowledge and skills you would like to improve, so you can search mentors with the right expertise.

  1. Set up your account on ourĀ ICE mentoring platform
  2. Complete your profile as a mentee
  3. Search the system to find a suitable mentor and contact them with a proposal for mentoring
  4. Once you both agree to the match, you can begin your mentoring relationship

Join as a mentor

Supporting other engineers at different stages in their career can be a rewarding experience. Mentoring your peers and younger engineers will provide you with excellent CPD. You get to practice your own leadership and motivation skills, expand your networks and share your practice across the industry.

  1. Set up your account on our ICE mentoring platform
  2. Complete your profile as a mentor and potential mentees will start sending you their proposals
  3. Review proposals and choose whether to accept suggested matches
  4. Once you both agree to the match, you can begin your mentoring relationship

Please note there is a difference between the ICE Mentoring platform and Mentor Supported Training for Initial Professional Development (IPD):

  • ICE Mentoring is open to all members to use as both mentors and mentees for general development
  • Mentor Supported Training is for individuals formally working towards becoming professionally qualified with ICE with the support of a mentor. Mentors must be approved by an MDO (Membership Development Officer) before they can mentor a trainee during their IPD. For more information on how to apply to become either a mentee or mentor via this route, please read the mentor supported training guidance or contact our membership team for more information.
