This joint presentation on A6D2D by Department for Infrastructure, AECOM and SWS will follow on from the April 2021 presentation when we highlighted the scale and some challenges of the scheme.
This presentation will feature the overall benefits of the scheme and how these have been realised. The scheme will be viewed from Drumahoe to Dungiven with detail on particular areas of interest and there will be focus into some of the people who’ve delivered the scheme.
We’ll cover what progress looks like in particular areas and give some insight to how completion is being realised for this flagship project.

project sponsor - roads major project team
James has 20 years’ experience and has worked for DfI Roads (and its predecessors) since graduation. Throughout his career he has held numerous roles within the organisation, and has experience in all aspects of the road asset management lifecycle.
Since January 2021 James has headed up the DfI - Roads Major Project Team which is responsible for delivery of the A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe Dualling.

Principal Engineer
Jane is a Chartered Engineer with fifteen years of industry experience, with the past six years focused on project management of strategic highways projects.
Jane has experience on projects for local authorities, commercial development, housing, and private wind sectors. Her skill set has been developed by working as both the designer and client representative, resulting in the ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team for the effective delivery of projects.
Jane joined AECOM as the instruction to procced to tender on A6D2D was received from DfI. Jane worked closely with the NEC Project Manager, assisting on the management and delivery of the project including development of D&B contract documents and coordination of tender process.
Now that the scheme is under construction, Jane works closely with the NEC PM to assist in the day-to-day running of the project, coordinating the various disciplines associated with this major road scheme. Jane is a key member of the project management team.

Project Director
Michael Troughton of Wills Bros is the Project Director for SWSJV, leading the contracting team responsible for design and build of the £250m A6D2D Dualling scheme.
Michael is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 years’ Civil Engineering experience across varied sectors and locations, nationally and internationally.
Michael actively encourages and promotes the social benefits of the A6D2D as well as the professional development of people in the industry.
