Overview

Beyond labels: celebrating neurodivergent perspectives in civil engineering explores the unique strengths and valuable contributions that neurodivergent people bring to the profession. This session aims to broaden understanding, challenge assumptions and highlight how diverse ways of thinking can enhance creativity, problem‑solving and innovation across projects and teams.

Attendees will hear lived‑experience insights from neurodivergent professionals, along with practical guidance on creating more supportive environments in both academic and workplace settings. The event will look at common barriers, simple adjustments that make a meaningful difference, and the role colleagues, line managers and organisations can play in fostering inclusion.

Whether you are a student, early career engineer, experienced practitioner, or someone keen to better understand neurodiversity in the built environment, this session offers an open and supportive space to learn, reflect and engage.

Join us as we celebrate the value of different perspectives and encourage a civil engineering community where everyone can thrive.
