Construction of Phase 1 of the Atlantic Wharf Masterplan started in 2025. This phase includes delivery of Cardiff’s new state of the art indoor arena. With a capacity of approximately 16,500, the arena provides the mid-size events space needed to fill the existing gap in Cardiff’s events infrastructure. Purpose designed for live music, the arena will feature high quality acoustics and clear sightlines, and is expected to deliver lasting cultural and economic benefits to Cardiff.
With construction well underway, McLaren, the main contractor for the arena and the neighbouring public plaza and hotel, is welcoming the ICE ECNet Wales Cymru to a site visit including an introductory presentation on the development, technical explanations from project representatives, a guided site walkaround, and opportunities for questions and discussion.
Meeting point will be at 11:55 at the site entrance at the intersection between Hemingway Road and Lloyd George Avenue, opposite Cardiff Bay Station..
