Overview

Key highlights for this technical visit include: 

Learn about the Yuen Long South (YLS) Development, the third major New Development Area project following Kwu Tung North/Fanling North and Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen, supporting Hong Kong’s medium to longterm housing supply.  

Understand the scope of Contract No. YL/2022/01 – Contract 3, including land decontamination, site formation, reconstruction of Tong Yan San Tsuen Interchange, and associated road works.  

Observe the application of a Rectangular Tunnel Boring Machine (RTBM) for constructing a subway beneath Yuen Long Highway, avoiding open excavation and minimising traffic disruption.  

Gain practical insights into innovative tunnelling techniques, construction planning, and safety management adopted in a complex livetraffic environment. 

  • Capacity: Maximum of 20 participants with priority given to ICE Members at all grades 
  • Dress code: Long trousers and full PPE (helmet with chin strap, reflective vest, safety boots) 
  • Required certificates: Valid Green Card 
  • Shuttle bus will be provided from Yuen Long MTR Station to the site and return 
  • Registration deadline: 24 April 2026 (Friday) 

Notes 

  • Registration will be confirmed on a first-come-first-served basis, with priority given to ICE Members.  
  • Only successful applicants will be notified. 
  • The event will be conducted primarily in Cantonese and English terms will be introduced where appropriate. 
  • Attendance certificates will be provided within two weeks of the event only if attendees participate for the entire duration of the event. 
  • Applicants with no-show records will be given lower priority in future ICEHKA events. 

Adverse weather arrangement 

The event will be cancelled or rescheduled to another date in the case of a red or black rainstorm signal, or typhoon signal no. 3 or above is issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at or after 06.30. The organiser reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the event in view of safety or other considerations.
