Join us at Loughborough University for an inspiring alumni talk by Mike Reader MP on shaping the future of UK infrastructure, followed by a networking session.
Mike Reader is the Member of Parliament for Northampton South, Chair of the APPG on Infrastructure, and Labour Party Champion for Construction. With experience spanning both major infrastructure delivery and national politics, he brings a unique perspective on how engineering expertise can shape decision-making at the highest levels.
Organised by the ICE Early Careers Network East Midlands and Chaired by Ian Nicholson, ICE East Midlands Regional Chair, Mike will cover his journey from studying civil engineering at Loughborough University to delivering major infrastructure projects at Pick Everard and Mace and ultimately serving in Parliament.
Mike will outline how engineers play a meaningful role in public decision-making through their technical expertise and leadership. He will also share his perspective on the future of UK infrastructure, including the key challenges ahead and the exciting opportunities available to today’s students and young engineers.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from an MP and connect with Mike during the networking session, where refreshments will also be served. This event is open to all students, graduates, industry professionals and ICE members with an interest in engineering and infrastructure.
