Overview

This site visit offers a unique opportunity to explore the role of Public Works Laboratory of Malaysia (MKRM) — the national laboratory under the Ministry of Works — in supporting the quality, safety, and innovation of construction practices in Malaysia. As a key technical centre, the laboratory provides essential services in structural, material, and geotechnical testing that underpin sound engineering decisions and policy formulation for infrastructure development.

Participants will be exposed to advanced testing facilities and demonstrations, including material durability assessments, structural load testing, pavement analysis, and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques. Through this experience, attendees will gain insights into how research and data from laboratory investigations contribute to compliance with national standards, enhance construction reliability, and encourage continuous improvement in engineering practice.
