Overview

This event is for those completing their career appraisal or professional review submission and who are based in the South West of England, Wales or the Americas region.

You have been invited to attend this programme because you are an experienced engineer, who has expressed a desire to complete your career appraisal or professional review submission for IEng/CEng. This programme is designed to enable you to set out, plan and write your submission for your professional membership.

The objective of this programme is to have completed a first draft of your report. Comprising six sessions, three before the summer break and three after, you will complete your draft by mid-October.

The sessions will cover:

  • Session 1:  Understanding your submission; planning report content; writing your introduction and close (homework:  writing your introduction, close and plan).
  • Session 2:  The technical attribute and drafting your technical content (homework: drafting your technical content).
  • Session 3:  Increasing technical depth; attributes two to seven; expanding your technical draft across other attributes (homework: developing your draft to give more depth and breadth).
  • Session 4:  Reviewing your draft and filling the gaps (homework:  progressing your draft to provide more evidence across the attributes).
  • Session 5:  Fine tuning your draft (homework:  revising, editing and extending your draft).
  • Session 6:  Finalising your draft and bringing it all together (homework:  pulling your submission together for your selected application deadline).

To get the most benefit from the workshop, delegates are required to do some preparation beforehand.  You must provide your CV and CPD records as well as details of your mentor before the programme commences.

Please note that this is an activity-based programme where at the end of each session you will commit to completing your homework before the next one. Delegates who are on track at the summer break will be invited to return to the second part of the programme to complete their reports.

At the end of this event, we will agree any further support/events required.  This will include a similar fast track series for delegates who wish to progress an experiential learning assessment application to enhance their eligibility before completing their IPD.
