The online CPD presentation introduces Concrete Canvas® and the broader category of Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mats (GCCMs) and Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Barriers (GCCBs), highlighting their development, composition, installation process, and applications within civil engineering.
GCCMs are described as new class of Geosynthetic material combining the impermeability of a geomembrane with the durability of concrete. GCCBs are for secondary containment applications.
The session outlines the main advantages of GCCMs, including rapid installation, reduced environmental impact, minimal equipment requirements, and consistent quality relative to traditional sprayed or poured concrete.
Case studies demonstrate successful use in slope and channel protection, bund lining, culvert lining, and remediation projects where access constraints, schedule limitations, or difficult terrain made conventional concrete impractical.
