Overview

The Mumbai Coastal Road Project is an expressway designed to reduce travel time between South Mumbai and the suburbs through a high-speed corridor featuring tunnels and sea links.

A key highlight of the project is the arch bridge that connects the Coastal Road to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. This bridge is a bow-string girder structure, enabling seamless north-south connectivity and significantly reducing travel time by providing direct access. It incorporates advanced construction techniques, such as high-tension chords, which allow for fewer supporting pillars and help minimise environmental impact over the sea.

This tech talk will provide insights into the challenges faced during the construction of the arch bridge.
