Overview

This event will showcase the experience of three aspiring engineers, speaking on three very different topics:

“Decommissioning Works at the Former Wylfa Nuclear Power Station”  Rhys Roberts from Magnox - Wilfa will talk about his role as civil project engineer on this project

“Rhyl Queen’s Market Redevelopment Works ” Cameron Nisbet will talk about his role as a structural engineer on this project.

Rhys gained a M Eng (Hons) degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Liverpool John Moores University, graduating in 2015. Rhys is currently employed as a Civil Project Engineer working for Magnox at the Wylfa site and is a Graduate Member of the ICE, working towards CEng, MICE Professional Qualification.

Cameron gained a M Eng (Hons) degree in Structural Engineering from University of Strathclyde and is a Graduate Member of the ICE. Cameron is currently employed as a Structural Engineer with JPS Civil & Structural Engineers at their Chester Office and is registered as a Trainee on the JPS ICE Company Approved Training Scheme. Cameron has recently achieved completion of his Training Agreement and is preparing to apply for his Chartered Professional Review

Oliver Edwards

Oliver is a civil engineer working for Conwy County Borough Council with 10 years industry experience. Oliver has worked extensively on the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project since 2013 working on each phase of project delivery from concept design through to delivery of the final scheme. He completed a BA in Human Geography at Aberystwyth University in 2012 and a HNC in Civil Engineering at Llandrillo College in 2019.

Oliver has been a member of the ICE since 2017 and is currently awaiting his EngTech Professional Review. Oliver’s role pays particular attention to the environmental and social outcomes associated with delivering the Project and he has been instrumental in the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project attaining three separate CEEQUAL Awards, the last scheme also winning a 2019 Outstanding Achievement Award.
