Overview

The Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) is one of Mumbai’s most vital east-west corridors, connecting the Western and Eastern Express Highways.

At Vakola junction, the alignment negotiates an extremely constrained urban environment, involving a sharp 90 degree turn with a radius of only 100m, construction above a live highway, proximity to underground metro tunnels and severe restrictions on pier locations.

To address these challenges, a sharp-curved cable-stayed bridge with 105m long span was conceived; an uncommon solution for dense urban conditions in India.

This webinar presents the complete engineering journey of the SCLR cable-stayed bridge covering concept evolution, structural form selection, advanced analysis and design and the construction methodology adopted to execute the project safely with minimal traffic disruption.

The session will offer practical insights and lessons learned from one of Mumbai’s most challenging bridge projects and will be of value to bridge engineers, designers, construction professionals, academicians and infrastructure authorities.
