Designing a zero carbon world: Digital technology & construction

As the construction industry comes to realise the need to reduce carbon across all building sectors, Harbinder Birdi, Partner, Infrastructure Sector Lead, Hawkins\Brown, will explain how the practice is meeting the challenge to deliver innovative - yet low carbon - architecture and infrastructure.

Focusing on the development of Hawkins\Brown’s leading carbon measuring tool - H\B:ERT - which calculates the embodied energy of materials to help inform the design of low-carbon buildings, Harbinder will explore how such software, together with innovations in modern methods of construction, have improved the delivery of projects and reduced waste.

Harbinder will also elaborate on what creative tools the practice uses to improve collaboration between engineers, fabricators and contracting consortiums to overcome the challenge of working from home.
