Overview

The ICE Wales Cymru, North Wales branch invites you to join an evening presentation by Binnies UK Ltd and William Hughes Civil Engineering Ltd, which covers reservoir improvements across one of Natural Resources Wales’ old mining reservoirs located within the Gwydir Forest.

This presentation is aimed at those wanting to learn more about dams and reservoirs, and the intricacies and requirements of the Reservoirs Act 1975, and some of the unique challenges faced by reservoir owners to meet the requirements of this key piece of legislation.

The presenters will cover some of the key technical components of the Llyn Fuches Las reservoir remediation project, outlining the unique challenges presented by the historic nature of this asset, the sensitive nature of the setting, and associated environmental constraints. The project gained consent approvals and demonstrated commitment to the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and Wellbeing of Future Generations Act.

The presenters will share their experiences thought the design and construction stage, using Early Contractor Involvement, regular designer and construction team meetings working together to meet a common outcome.

This event will be followed by a Q&A session.
