This event will explore the new Gull Wing Bridge, a major infrastructure project in Lowestoft by Farrans. The presentation will dive into the bridge’s construction and the technical challenges overcome by the team, as well as its role as a catalyst to improve travel times and connectivity within the town.
The team will provide an overview of the project timeline and main elements and the construction techniques used, focusing on four areas of the works.
This is a great opportunity to learn about construction of the world’s largest rolling bascule bridge lifted by hydraulic cylinders and the techniques and innovation used to deliver the project.

Chris is an engineer with over 25 years experience. His roles have afforded him a varied and broad experience in construction projects across numerous sectors including roads and bridges, rail, marine, renewables, commercial buildings as well as both clean and wastewater.

Tristram is a project manager who has been employed by Farrans Construction for 20 years since graduating from Strathclyde University in Glasgow.
He has experience in moving bridges, bridges, highways, marine engineering, onshore wind.

Ross is a Chartered Civil Engineer and has been employed by Farrans for over 21 years since graduating from Queen’s University. He has undertaken a range of roles, predominantly in design management, across multiple sectors including wastewater, marine and roads and bridges.
