Associated British Ports
engineering programme manager
Andrew is a chartered civil engineer with a background in design, working in both contracting and consultant organisations. Since joining ABP in 2020, Andrew has enjoyed working as a project manager in the role as 'client', delivering a variety of schemes from rail works, container and bulk handling yards, new mooring bollards, a quay wall replacement, road improvement schemes and now dredging - everything you can expect to find in a busy port! Andrew particularly enjoys seeing projects through from cradle to operation and being able to define the strategy of a project right from the outset.
Van Oord
pre-contract manager
A chartered civil engineer, Alex Schofield has been part of the coastal engineering community for more than two decades.
She started her career in consultancy, mainly delivering coastal flood and erosion risk management projects for local authorities and the Environment Agency.
In 2020 Schofield joined Van Oord as a pre-contract manager, leading its acquisition of dredging and marine construction projects in the UK and Ireland. She is also the firm’s marine and coastal framework manager, with oversight of its work for the Environment Agency.
Royal HaskoningDHV
senior environmental consultant
Emily is a senior environmental consultant with experience in both terrestrial and marine environments. She has provided environmental consultancy services in a variety of areas including coastal defences, fluvial flood defence, strategic master planning, manufacturing facilities, emergency consenting, dredge and disposal, and large-scale infrastructure schemes.
She has project manged and coordinated a wide range of projects, including Environmental Impact Assessments for marine licences and TCPA applications across the UK as well as experience in Development Consent Order (DCO). She has also worked on Environmental and Social Impact Assessments working to international standards set by the World Bank. For each project, she works with a team of multi-disciplinary specialists coordinating environmental assessment and working closely her clients to achieve their goals.
Join us to hear from the client, the Department for Infrastructure, the client’s representative, AtkinsRéalis, and D&B contractor, Charles Brand, as they describe the design and construction of the flood defence scheme protecting Belfast from tidal flooding to 2080.
