Innovation month’s headlining event: the design and construction of Crossrail

Innovation month’s headlining event - session 3: case study – the design and construction of the Elizabeth Line.

This session is an exciting event held at the Institution of Civil Engineers that focuses on the innovative solutions applied on Crossrail. The talk will be delivered by Architect and Creative Director, Harbinder Singh Birdi, who shares his experience in the design and construction of the Elizabeth Line.

Some topics to be covered include:

• The architectural inspiration that shaped the designs of each station
• The organisation and creative leadership of the project
• Techniques used by the Tier1 contractors to deliver the project
• Design and procurement of the over-site development
• The use of the NEC contract
• Key challenges faced when delivering the project.

Harbinder has 20 years of experience as a creative leader having designed some of the largest projects in the UK and internationally including the design of three Crossrail stations and the Thames Tideway Tunnel.

The talk will last around 45 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A session and open discussion with the audience.
