Concrete Society
The Concrete Society is a UK based non-profit company founded in 1966 in response to the need for an organisation embracing those interested in concrete.
Event organised by ICE
The purpose of this presentation is to widen the understanding of post-tensioned slab construction and show the benefits and opportunities it offers to developers, architects, engineers and contractors. The topics covered consider post-tensioned process from pre-construction, design, construction, quality control, sustainability and post-construction considerations.
Embodied carbon within building structures is an important element of structural design considerations and post-tensioned concrete can offer reductions in the quantity of materials used compared to more traditional forms of construction. The benefits of post-tensioned concrete are best realised with considering structures as post-tensioned early in the design process.
