Overview
A Road Safety Audit is a formal assessment of the potential road safety problems for new highway schemes and highway improvement schemes. The audit is carried out at various stages during the design process and following construction.
The Road Safety Audit independently assess proposals to minimise the number and severity of situations where road users are at risk of injury whilst on the highway. The assessment considers the safety of all road users, particularly vulnerable users such as pedestrians and pedal cyclists.
The ICE South Branch Graduate, Student and Apprentice Committee welcome you to attend an evening presentation hosted by Hampshire County Council’s Road Safety Audit team to give you an introduction to Road Safety Audits.
The following topics covered in the presentation include:
- Road Traffic Collisions in the UK
- A background to Road Safety Audit
- An overview of DMRB standard GG119
- Common road safety audit problems
