Overview

Join the ICE East Midlands North Nottingham, North Derby Branch lunch and learn webinar on the Waterside Bridge.

The Waterside Bridge is an ambitious and complex project to build the first new footbridge over the River Trent for more than six decades, creating a new landmark for Nottingham.

By enhancing connections between communities, green spaces, and riverside paths, the proposed scheme will make it easier and safer for people living and working in the Nottingham area to travel in a more sustainable way.

Hear from Richard Childs, team manager at Leicestershire County Council on how the 3D models to produce a digital twin were developed. He will explain the journey of working with the project design teams, the clients, their consultants and the construction teams from early concept options to the finished design illustrations covering the main bridge and a second bridge spanning the entrance to Trent Basin.

The bridge, scheduled to open in Spring 2026, is funded entirely by the Department for Transport's Transforming Cities Fund.
