In this presentation, organised by the ICE Coventry and Warwickshire Branch, two speakers will discuss the latest technologies in using timber and bamboo to build sustainable structures.
Arthur Coates will base his presentation on the Pai Lin Li's lecture ‘Tall timber structures: An exploration in USA, Canada and Norway’ but will also include some thoughts on mass timber in the future.
David Trujillo will talk about the benefits of using bamboo, the journey to develop standards and prospects for its adoption in the UK and worldwide.

Uganda records among the highest road fatality rates in Sub-Saharan Africa. The presentation will examine the current road safety landscape, audit methodologies, and practical interventions for safer roads.

Whilst engineers struggle to adapt infrastructure for a changing climate, nature is already surviving and thriving in these conditions. Using a biomimicry approach, this presentation explores how organisms on the Isles of Scilly could inform climate resilience in the UK.

Explore the growing challenges of water management, including urban flooding, declining public trust and climate pressures. Learn about the barriers to implementation and discover why we need more industry-wide reflection on effective, scalable solutions.
