Event organised by Offshore Engineering Society
The Offshore Engineering Society (OES) is excited to announce their upcoming graduate and student networking event, aimed at those who aren't already working in the offshore engineering industry.
The event will comprise five insightful presentations by leading members in the industry. There will be an informal session where delegates will be able to discuss particular aspects of the industry with the presenters and other industry experts. This will be followed by networking drinks, providing further connections in a casual setting.
The formal presentations are:
The world of offshore engineering is an exciting place to work where some of the greatest engineering feats are carried out to meet major challenges. However, awareness of these developments is limited because they are often far over the horizon and not readily visible.
The offshore industry continues to explore new frontiers, from sustainable energy sources like offshore wind, wave, and current potential to traditional energy sources. In both the renewable energy and the hydrocarbon theatres the drive to break through the barriers continues apace.
Industry experts play pivotal roles and contribute significantly to these fields, and there are opportunities to gain a wide range of skills in offshore engineering. To raise awareness of the opportunities for engineering graduates and soon-to-be graduates, the OES is holding an evening event that provides a broad overview of what is available.

Ramboll
Senior Structural Engineer
Jennifer is a chartered senior civil engineer in the Offshore Wind Department at Ramboll. She graduated with a first-class honours’ degree from the University of Sheffield where she was an ICE QUEST scholar. With 6 years industry experience, her engineering experience is broad having worked on site at the largest construction site in Europe, undertaken a secondment in India and worked in nuclear energy and defence. Jennifer’s experience in structural dynamics and passion for working towards a sustainable future has compelled her to specialise in offshore wind within Primary Steel.
Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions (GDG)
Geotechnical Engineer
Hansini Mallikarachchi is a geotechnical engineer with a special interest in offshore projects. She started her career in January 2020 after completing her PhD in geotechnical engineering from the University of Cambridge. Her main research interest is the finite element analysis of multi-phase geomaterials. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a first class (Hons), majoring in structural engineering. She has experience in both academia and industry, and is currently working in GDG.
2H Offshore Engineering Ltd
Senior Engineer
Liam Moore is a senior engineer at 2H and has over 5 years’ engineering experience in design and numerical analysis of offshore structures used in energy production including risers, moorings and cable systems. He has had various roles in a number of detailed design, feasibility and verification projects. These include both local and global modelling of a variety of riser and structural systems, and, in more recent times been involved in a variety of floating offshore wind projects. He has worked on a variety of coupled assessments looking at floating foundations, turbine, mooring systems and power cables in Orcaflex to support developer and vendors on floating wind projects. Liam currently holds a Bachelor with Honours degree in Mechanical and Energy Engineering. He has been based in the 2H’s Aberdeen office for over 5 years.
